Landscape Photography

Landscape photography is something we all love to do. People who love to travel like to click pictures of the places that they've visited. Landscape pictures if done right can be one of the most beautiful photos capturing all the emotions that you'd been through when you first saw the scenery or the landmark. If done wrong, you will forever have that regret of not capturing the moment perfectly unless you plan on visiting the place again.

We are going to be discussing some points which were mentioned in the previous post, so if you haven't read it before, go through it.

Shooting landscapes are really not as complex as it sounds. Follow the tips mentioned below and you will find yourself shooting some amazing pictures which you shall be able to cherish for the rest of your life.

1. It's not your job to move closer to the scenery, let the camera do its job.

As the title suggests, don't move in closer to the scenery or the landmark. Stay far but zoom in to the frame so that you get the ideal shot. Landscape pictures usually require 18-55 mm lens but have a 18-140 mm or 18-135 mm lens will get the job done better. The reason I'm recommending 18-140 mm lens is you can have both the wide angle shot at 18 mm and the zoomed in shot at 140 mm which fares better compared to the zoom you get at 55 mm. Also, the stock 18-55 mm lens's performance is not so great compared to the 18 - 140 mm or 18 - 135 mm lenses.

2. Ensure the subject (if a building) is at center the frame.

As discussed in the previous post, the trick is to fill the frame. Filling the frame will ensure that the complete attention would be on the subject and nothing else.

As you can see, the temple is in the center of the frame with some emphasis given to the sky.

3. Concentrate on the sky and the foreground.

As mentioned in the earlier point, the role of the sky and foreground can enhance the picture when done correctly. The skies accentuates the mood of the photograph and hence can be used accordingly.

4. Use a tripod.

As discussed in the previous post, shutter speed plays a vital role in clicking a great picture. A tripod is recommended while clicking pictures at very slow shutter speeds to ensure that the picture has not shook or is not blurry
